GET Interactive and Gydget Announce Groundbreaking New Technology for Monetizing Video Content on Social Networking Sites

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., July 25 PRNewswire — GET Interactive, an advertising technology company, and Gydget, a social media marketing platform company, are announcing a groundbreaking new capability that allows social networking users and their friends to shop for products that appear in video content on their profile pages.

GET Interactive brings innovative technology to consumers, brands and content owners, allowing consumers to shop for products that appear in streaming video while creating an opt-in advertising platform for brands. By working with advertisers and content producers to identify brands that appear in video content, their technology converts any video content into a shopping or promotional opportunity for consumers, without disrupting the viewing experience. Consumers simply click on "GET spots" and browse through products in a new browser window.

Gydget provides a social media marketing platform that allows users to reach audiences on social networking and fan-based websites. Gydget develops viral fan widgets and integrated social networking applications to help musicians, sports teams, labels and promoters spread the word and grab new fans. Gydget's viral web widgets, or gydgets, can be created by anyone, for free, without needing to know complex programming languages. Fans on MySpace can add the FanSpace application to easily access and share fan widgets.

The groundbreaking new widget technology now offered by GET Interactive and Gydget allows fans to visit a website that is Gydget and GET enabled, grab the widget application, and apply it to their own page. Fans and their friends will be able to interact with brands from their favorite videos in the gydgets on their personal pages.

This is the first time a widget has ever been made "shop-able." Being a part of a huge viral distribution point, brands are certainly on the winning end of this deal. "Our new collaboration with Gydget is a win-win for consumers, brands and content providers. Consumers are provided with a new way to interact with their favorite artists, brands get to engage with highly targeted consumers, and content providers can enjoy a new revenue stream," says Rick Harrison, CEO of GET Interactive. The GET enabled Gydget can already be seen on music videos by artists Ray J and Dwele.

Taking the current capabilities of viral shopping to another level, social networking users can share video content with their friends and make their pages a place to shop their favorite artist's video — thereby allowing for a more genuine connection between fans and their favorite musician, sports team, games, or film star.

"We are thrilled to offer our clients the new GET enabled gydget, as it provides another way for artists to monetize their content and an innovative way for fans to interact with their favorite entertainers," says Gerardo Capiel, Founder and CEO of Gydget. "More than 1,500 major recording artists are already using Gydget to increase their exposure on social networking sites and drive incremental revenue with ticket, ringtones, music and merchandise sales. We are excited to now offer GET enabled content from the Gydget. A total media, branding and shopping solution for video content."
