Ideal Homes Announces Guaranteed Utilities

OKLAHOMA CITY, July 22 PRNewswire — With energy costs soaring to record highs, Ideal Homes, Oklahoma's largest homebuilder, now offers its Guaranteed Utilities program on 100 percent of its new construction.

Vernon McKown, Ideal's co-owner and president of sales, says the change makes a proven program available for all of its homes. "We build the most energy-efficient homes in the market, with the latest technology and state-of-the art materials. Now the home that keeps you comfortable all year long also guarantees to save you money on heating and cooling costs."

Ideal Homes has participated since 2002 in Masco's Environments for Living (EfL) Program and with the U.S. Department of Energy's Building America program to guarantee energy bills for its Signature and Infinity new-home product lines.

The program provides each new homeowner with a guaranteed average energy cost for a 13-month period. "If the actual average exceeds that amount, the customer is reimbursed the difference," McKown says. "The bigger issue is that it gives homebuyers peace of mind and confirms our energy performance claims."

All homes enrolled in the program are required to meet energy-use performance guidelines set by the EfL program. Third-party verification includes plan checks and blower-door tests. That performance is then calculated as an energy cost based on local rates, which, in turn, is used for the guarantee.

Ideal has guaranteed many of its homes for the last five years. Thus far no claims have been verified against the guarantee.
