One Month Until 'Textbook Tuesday' - Biggest Day for Online Textbook Rentals, August 19th, 2008.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., July 21 PRNewswire — Chegg, the number one online textbook rental company, is stocked-up and primed for "Textbook Tuesday" on August 19th, 2008. This year's Textbook Tuesday is expected to be the biggest day ever for online textbook rentals. College students are turning to Chegg in record numbers as a key tool to get ready for the new school year.

Chegg's goal is to make textbooks more accessible, and affordable, by offering a convenient and cheaper alternative to traditional campus bookstores. Last year Chegg helped students save millions of dollars across the US. Now, in its second prime-time year, Chegg will help students on thousands of college campuses save 60 to 80 percent on college textbooks, putting money back into students' already thin wallets.

Instead of spending hundreds of dollars each semester on books then "selling them back" for pocket change, students easily rent textbooks for their courses online for a fraction of the cost — and time. Once a user selects their textbooks online, the books are delivered straight to the student's door, within days. When the semester is over, students simply print out a free return shipping label from their online Chegg account and send the books back.

"Getting my textbooks through Chegg is a no-brainer," said Anthony Hill of Northern Illinois University. "I don't have to wait in long lines and they arrive right at my front door. Better yet, I save money each year on college textbooks and even help the environment. As the school year is right around the corner I'll be online with Chegg in the coming weeks to prep for the new school year."

"Last year I saved $200 using the Chegg service," said Jessica Morales of Nova Southeastern University. "That is a lot of money for a college student and money I reinvested in my college education. Chegg has made it so easy to save money and rent and return books."

Chegg is prepared for Anthony Hill, Jessica Morales and all other college students this 2008-09 school year, particularly for August 19 and the days before and after, when the biggest volume of students will be starting classes, receiving syllabuses and determining how to get their required textbooks. Interesting to note, 75 percent of these students happen to attend four year universities while 25 percent attend two year college institutions or take courses from home.

Although renting textbooks is already an environmentally conscience action, Chegg also plants a tree for every book rented. More than 20 million trees a year are destroyed to make books. By planting a tree for every book that's rented, Chegg is helping replace the dent textbook production is having on Mother Nature. So far, Chegg has funded over 100 acres of trees which is 100 football fields or 25 city blocks of worth.

"Chegg is stocked and ready to rock on Textbook Tuesday," said Osman Rashid, CEO of Chegg. "For decades buying textbooks has been a huge expense and pain for college students. Now they can save a lot of time and money renting them from Chegg. We have millions of textbooks for students across the nation to choose from for their studies. In the end we want to help students save money and make it easy to rent and return textbooks."
