Nationally Known Homeland Security Veteran Joins Wayne County Community College District

DETROIT, July 16 PRNewswire — James Marcinkowski, a nationally known veteran of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Navy Intelligence Operations and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), has joined the Wayne County Community College District as its top homeland security consultant.

Marcinkowski will develop a new emergency operations plan for the District's five campuses. In addition to this, he will also teach homeland security courses at the District's Michigan Institute of Public Safety Education at the Downriver Campus in Taylor.

Marcinkowski's new emergency operations plan for the District's five campuses will help safeguard against any potential threat, including natural disasters and cyber-hacking. His new programs at the District's Michigan Institute of Public Safety Education at the Downriver Campus in Taylor will engage local first responders and other community leaders to share best practices and coordinate security efforts. This program will also educate business leaders on the best ways to safeguard their employees and organizations against potential threats.

Marcinkowski, a Clinton Township native, started working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1974 in that agency's computer systems division. He served in shipboard operations with the U.S. Navy collecting intelligence during Cold War years on several different continents before joining the CIA as an operations officer based in Central America in 1985. Marcinkowski has also served in a special prosecution unit for the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office and as the Deputy City Attorney for the Royal Oak City Attorney's Office.

He has appeared as an expert commentator on national news venues such as the CNN Morning Show, CBS News' 60 Minutes, NBC's Meet the Press and Fox News, as well as NPR News and MSNBC. Marcinkowski received his bachelor's degree in political science from Michigan State University in East Lansing; a law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.

The District is committed to continue to develop new programs, host more community-based events, improve student facilities and services, upgrade technologies, make capital investments in massive building expansion projects, train staff members to enhance their skills and revamp internal processes to maximize efficiency.
