Initial Response from Shell Lubricants to Kline Announcement of Competitor Rankings 2007

LONDON, July 3 PRNewswire — Commenting on the Kline & Company announcement yesterday (2 July 2008), that Shell has retained its position as global lubricants leader in 2007, David Pirret, Executive Vice President Shell Lubricants, says:

"I'm delighted that we have not only maintained our leadership position, but have also widened the gap between us and our nearest competitors. We believe our global number one position is based first and foremost on top quality lubricants products. We combine this with the capability to deliver first-class lubricants solutions to customers, wherever they may be.

"High oil prices make today's economic environment especially challenging; however, developments, such as the shift toward synthetics and growing demand in emerging markets, create real opportunities for the lubricants industry. The factors that have contributed to Shell Lubricants' growth will also help drive further success in the years to come."
