A highlight of the evening was the raffle of contemporary La Fee artworks designed by Saatchi, London. Each represented a link with famous artists known to enjoy absinthe — Van Gogh, Lautrec, Monet, and Dali. Mixologist Tad Carducci is shown accepting his Dali-style artwork from La Fee's founder and brand owner George Rowley, and Marie-Claude Delahaye, curator of the French Absinthe Museum.
In 1998 Rowley secured the authorization on a landmark document allowing absinthe to be legally sold in the European Union, ensuring a worldwide absinthe revival.
Rowley worked with world-renowned absinthe expert and historian Marie-Claude Delahaye and the Musee de l'Absinthe; creating the first traditional absinthe to be distilled in France since the 1915 ban. The result; 'La Fee Absinthe Parisienne' is distilled in Paris, using fine herbs including Grand Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) based on an authentic 19th century recipe. It is the only absinthe endorsed by the 'Musee de l'Absinthe'; each distillation is personally tasted and approved by Delahaye.
With its rich history and iconic eye logo La Fee has received numerous awards around the globe including San Francisco World Spirits Gold and Beverage Testing Institute Chicago Gold. La Fee's international portfolio contains four authentic award winning absinthes under the one La Fee brand name from France, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
Best-selling La Fee Parisienne is distilled at traditional strength of 68% alcohol by volume (136 proof). The suggested retail price for a 750ml bottle is $60; each bottle comes with its own authentic absinthe spoon allowing for the 'perfect serve.' La Fee is imported by Green Utopia Manhasset, NY and distributed in New York by MHW LTD at (516)-869-9170. Available in New York bars and liquor stores including: www.Drinkupny.com, Mister Wright's, and Park Avenue Liquor Store (www.parkaveliquor.com) with a national rollout planned this summer.
