Hersh was diagnosed with cancer at a young age and he shares his experiences and perspective on the journey of life. His insights were further accelerated by the loss of his father two years after his cancer treatment and C.K.'s mother died two years later. With many significant life changes in a very short period of time C. K. set out on a journey of self-discovery that he shares with the reader.

C. K. Hersh lives in Portsmouth, Virginia, in a historic neighborhood. He enjoys his time with his wife and two children. From an early age, he wanted to be a physician, and he currently practices orthopedic hand surgery in Norfolk, Virginia. He has worked in the United States Navy and has served as a business consultant. A runner and novice triathlete, he's also a cancer survivor who lost both his parents in a short period. His experiences in his forties set him on a journey of self-discovery and growth that he shares through sports analogies that help others learn to enjoy each moment of life and realize increased peace.
