Tide(R) has partnered once again with relief organization America's Second Harvest — The Nation's Food Bank Network (ASH) — to bring the Tide CleanStart truck to the city of Waterloo in Black Hawk County, IA. The Tide CleanStart truck is currently operating in Black Hawk County where the flood recently destroyed thousands of homes, leaving many without shelter and basic needs like clean clothes. Waterloo is centrally located to best accommodate the residents of nearby neighborhoods hardest hit by the flood. Families affected are able to drop off their laundry to be washed, dried and folded by the Tide CleanStart team, free of charge.

The Tide CleanStart truck is parked in the parking lot behind Central Middle School at 1350 Katoski Drive in Waterloo, IA and will be open daily from 8AM - 8PM until Thursday, July 3, 2008. This mobile laundry facility contains 32 energy-efficient Frigidaire(R) Affinity(TM) washers and dryers and can do 300 wash and dry cycles a day — equal to one year's worth of laundry for the average American family.

"After almost three years of sharing in people's efforts to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina and the Southern California wildfires, we've learned that the little things, like clean clothes, can make a big difference for those in need," says Kevin Crociata, Tide Marketing Director. "With Tide's heritage in cleaning fabrics and clothing, we feel this is a small, but meaningful, way Tide can do our part for the people of Iowa."

Tide CleanStart first launched in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 to provide clean clothes for affected families in New Orleans. The resilience and spirit of the people of New Orleans inspired Tide to expand the program and bring laundry service to Southern California, helping families affected by the wildfires of October 2007. Collectively, Tide has washed more than 30,000 loads of laundry for New Orleans and Southern California families. The Tide CleanStart truck is now prepared to help displaced residents, people in shelters and other people whose homes and personal items have been impacted by the Iowa flood.

"Food and clean clothing are among the most basic essentials people need in times of disaster," says Vicki Escarra, president and CEO for America's Second Harvest. "We are always on the frontlines of disaster relief efforts, and Tide CleanStart lends a much needed complementary resource that many of us take for granted on a daily basis."

People across the country can join Tide in the effort by going to tideloadsofhope.com to buy a Tide vintage t-shirt today. The tees are available for $15 and all proceeds go towards the rebuilding efforts for families affected by the flooding in Iowa, the wildfires in Southern California and Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
