DLP Cinema(R) Brings U.S. Troops in Kuwait Some Hollywood Glitter: Summer Blockbuster 'Hancock' Will Premiere in Digital Cinema at Camp Arifjan Military Installation

KUWAIT CITY, June 27 PRNewswire — Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE: TXN) DLP Cinema(R) in conjunction with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) today will screen Sony Pictures' summer blockbuster, "Hancock" at Camp Arifjan military installation. Of the 9,000 troops deployed at this remote site, 220 will be the first to experience the movie in a digital cinema format enabled by DLP Cinema projector technology. The installation of a DLP Cinema projector will provide military members the highest technical quality image in the world.

With more than 6,500 screens worldwide and U.S. market saturation of over 90 percent, DLP Cinema's groundbreaking quality enables viewers to see their favorite stars the way the director intended them to look showing after showing.

"We are honored to be involved with AAFES in bringing our troops the small comfort of seeing movies with the same digital technology installed in many of the movie theatres in their hometown," said Nancy Fares, Business Manager for DLP Cinema Products Group. "Together with the AAFES and Sony Pictures, these well-deserving troops in Kuwait will see 'Hancock' days before the movie receives its first showing to the Hollywood community thousands of miles away in Los Angeles."

The installation of a DLP Cinema projector will give our troops the highest technical quality movie experience. As the color reference system for all of Hollywood's movies, DLP Cinema will light up the AAFES "Reel Time" theater with over 35 trillion colors.

"The Army & Air Force Exchange Service is excited to have the technology in place to deliver a digital moviegoer experience to troops serving far from home," said AAFES' Commanding General Brig. Gen. Keith Thurgood. "It's just one more piece of the puzzle in our never ending effort to bring a taste of home to troops, regardless of where they are called to serve."

Through the support of the studios backing digitally formatted movies, the troops at Camp Arifjan can now experience Hollywood movies in an all-digital DLP Cinema picture without the normal wear and tear associated with film projectors.

"We are thrilled to be part of this fantastic effort," said Jeff Blake, Vice Chairman for Sony Pictures. "Sony is committed to providing digital movie content to our global audiences and now to even our deserving troops serving in Kuwait."

Following the premiere at Camp Arifjan, moviegoers can experience "Hancock" in DLP Cinema at thousands of digital theatres nationwide beginning July 2. To find a DLP Cinema theatre near you, please visit http://www.dlpcinema.com.
