American Airlines Supports Asia and U.S. Disaster Relief Efforts

FORT WORTH, Texas, June 26 PRNewswire-FirstCall — American Airlines has efforts under way on several fronts to help aid victims of the recent tornadoes and flooding in the Central United States, the Myanmar cyclone, and Wenchuan earthquake in China's Sichuan province. AAdvantage members can help by contributing to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to support UNICEF's emergency response efforts in China and Myanmar, as well as the American Red Cross to support Central U.S. floods and tornadoes disaster relief activities. UNICEF and the American Red Cross will dedicate the funds to help the millions of victims following the natural disasters in the respective countries. Contributions to these funds can be made online at http://www.aa.com/DisasterRelief.

AAdvantage members will receive a one-time award of 250 bonus AAdvantage miles for a minimum donation of $50 or 500 bonus miles for a donation of $100 or more to these relief efforts through July 31, 2008.

After both disasters, American and American Eagle employees immediately set in motion relief efforts for the areas affected by these natural disasters and continue to reach out to raise funds and provide aid.

American and American Eagle employees, even those directly affected by the recent tornadoes and flooding in the Central United States, are volunteering in response, recovery and rebuilding efforts there, as well as supporting Asia relief. Immediately following the Myanmar cyclone and Wenchuan earthquake, American's Asia-Pacific Islander Employee Resource Group sprang into action to raise funds and get supplies into the affected areas, as did employees in its Hong Kong sales office as well as Airline Ambassadors International, a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering humanitarian aid to children in need. Available cargo space on American's flights from Chicago O'Hare International Airport to Shanghai is being donated by the American Airlines Cargo Division (AA Cargo) to send supplies.
