Clifford Chance to Hold Inaugural Transatlantic Art Exhibition

NEW YORK, June 23 PRNewswire — Clifford Chance US LLP ("Clifford Chance"), the leading international law firm, today announced that it is hosting an exhibition of artwork by openly lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender artists, taking place simultaneously in its New York and London offices. The exhibition opens on Thursday, June 26, 2008 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. local time in each location.

This art exhibition marks the first time Clifford Chance has held a transatlantic event organized by its lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) employee groups in both New York and London. It will be the second exhibition of its kind hosted in the New York office. The exhibition will take place during the annual Pride Week, a worldwide movement and philosophy asserting that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals should be proud of their sexual orientation and gender identity.

"This event shows the sincere commitment Clifford Chance is making, not only to its employees, but to the wider LGBT community," said Jason Young, head of Clifford Chance's New York LGBT employees group. "Diversity has always been an integral part of our firm's culture and we will continue to pursue these engaging and important cultural events in the future."

Dean Daderko, a New York based curator, will speak at the event in New York about the exhibition and other contemporary works by LGBT artists. Works by Douglas Boatwright, Leidy Churchman, Lucky DeBellevue, Eve Fowler, Keith Mayerson and Emily Roysdon will be on display, and several of the artists will be attending the firm's opening reception. The New York based exhibition will be supplemented by a video presentation of works simultaneously being exhibited in the firm's London office. Dinaburg Arts, the curator for Clifford Chance's New York office, organized the exhibition in New York.

Clifford Chance supports several networks similar to the LGBT employees group, including Black and Latino, Asian and Pacific Islanders and Women subcommittees. The networks are designed to provide employees with a support system and forum to discuss issues, as well as the opportunity to meet other individuals from the office and to create a sense of community within the firm.

ABOUT THE LBGT NETWORK

Clifford Chance's LGBT committee was founded with an aim to encourage a culture throughout the firm where colleagues are happy to be open and out and where role models exist throughout the firm. The network provides its members, which include attorneys as well as business services staff, with a forum to discuss issues relevant to the LGBT community and the opportunity to meet other LGBT individuals from the office. The network is engaged in a number of activities including assisting with Clifford Chance's legal recruiting efforts among LGBT law student groups, organizing the Pride Art Exhibition, pro bono legal work and sponsorship for the LGBT community and charitable organizations such as the New York City Gay & Lesbian Anti-Violence Project and Lambda Legal.
