Accessible Archives, Inc. to Become COUNTER Compliant

MALVERN, Pa., June 18 PRNewswire — Accessible Archives, Inc., a publisher of electronic full-text searchable historical databases of 18th and 19th century American newspapers, periodicals and county histories, has announced that it has undertaken to become fully COUNTER compliant by 2009.

Long recognized by leading academics and institutions around the globe as a premier source for colonial and early American information, Accessible Archives is keenly aware of the increasing need for institutions to measure the value return of their purchased online content. They therefore have turned to the COUNTER usage statistics standard as the answer for this purpose. Established in 2002 by publishers, librarians and vendors, Project COUNTER provides a consistent, comparable and credible standard for counting and reporting usage of online resources. BETA Test

Accessible Archives will begin developing COUNTER reports during the latter part of 2008 and plans to make them available to libraries during the first quarter of 2009 with data going back to 1st Jan 2009. As part of this exercise they plan to form a virtual BETA test group who will gain early access to the reports and provide feedback on ease of access and usability.
