Pioneering Solutions To Fight Staph, MRSA Infections in Sports Facilities and Synthetic Turf Fields

CLEVELAND, June 18 PRNewswire — In response to the growing number of Staph and MRSA cases in athletes, Pioneer Athletics has partnered with mPact Environmental Solutions to offer advanced antimicrobial solutions for sports facilities and synthetic turf fields.

GamePlan4Sports is an antimicrobial program designed to protect the facilities and equipment that athletes, staff and trainers use each day. This includes the treatment of lockers, uniforms, weight rooms, training tables, towels, and fabrics. GamePlan4Sports is powered by AEGIS Microbe Shield(R), the most advanced, EPA registered antimicrobial available.

For synthetic turf, the GamePlan4Turf program was specifically designed as an active, long lasting antimicrobial treatment system to create an invisible barrier on the field that controls or eliminates the growth of a wide array of bacteria, mold and mildew and the odors and stains caused by them. GamePlan4Sports and GamePlan4Turf programs are applied by mPact certified professionals and backed by multi year warranties.

"With the GamePlan4Sports system, we now have a way to combat the microbes that can cause infection. We provide long term solutions with EPA registered products like mPale(R) Antimicrobial and mPerial(R) Disinfectant," says Doug Schattinger, President of Pioneer Athletics.

The Detroit Lions recently took a proactive measure by having their facilities treated with the GamePlan4Sports antimicrobial system.

"Since we had Pioneer and the mPact guys here to treat our facilities, I can sleep a lot better at night knowing we took a huge step towards prevention of Staph and MRSA infection," said Dean Kleinschmidt, Coordinator of Athletic Medicine and Athletic Trainer for the Lions.

Once found primarily in hospitals, Staph and Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) have found their way into the locker room and athletic facilities. The transfer of infection causing microbes are due mostly to contact among athletes, but also spreads from sharing towels, razors, sports equipment, and training tables.

The AEGIS Microbe Shield(R) technology works by physically rupturing the membrane of harmful microbes. The unique organo silane quaternary compound protrudes from the treated surface and punctures any microorganism like a tack would an inflated balloon. Then, electrocutes the cell.

Pioneer Athletics, located in Cleveland, Ohio, is the nation's leading developer and manufacturer of field marking paint, for natural grass and synthetic turf fields. They also carry a fleet of high quality field marking machines and equipment. Their paints, equipment, field stencils and athletic accessories are used by over 25,000 high schools, athletic clubs, and park and recreation departments throughout the country.

mPact Environmental Solutions is the world's leader in formulating and applying AEGIS based technologies in aftermarket applications. They have been granted the exclusive right for AEGIS Antimicrobial products in the aftercare market in the United States by AEGIS Environmental Management, Inc.
