BorgWarner Supplies International Engine of the Year Winners

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 15 PRNewswire-FirstCall — BorgWarner supplies turbochargers and other components to five out of seven turbocharged winners of Engine Technology International magazine's 2008 International Engine of the Year Awards, including the:

— Best New Engine: BMW 2.0L Diesel Twin Turbo —- BorgWarner content — R2S(R) Regulated Two-stage Turbocharger — Glow plugs and control units — Best Performance Engine: Porsche 3.6L Turbo —- BorgWarner content — Industry first gasoline turbocharger with Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG(TM)) — Electric air pump — Spark plugs and ignition coils

In addition, BorgWarner supplies turbochargers for the following gasoline-powered Best Engines in their respective categories:

— Best 1.0- to 1.4-Litre Engine: VW 1.4L TSI Twincharger — Best 1.4- to 1.8-Litre Engine: BMW-PSA 1.6L Turbo — Best 1.8- to 2.0-Litre Engine: VW-Audi 2.0L Turbo FSI

The awards were presented by Engine Technology International, a quarterly magazine published by England's UKIP Media & Events. Winners of eleven engine capacity categories were chosen for the International Engine of the Year 2008. This year, seven of the eleven category winners were turbocharged engines. In every category, a panel of 65 motoring journalists from 32 countries rated the engines based on fuel economy, smoothness, performance, noise and drivability.
