Villa Roma Resort Rises from Ashes, Rebuilt Hotel to Open

CALLICOON, N.Y., May 8 PRNewswire — The Villa Roma Resort and Conference Center, a popular resort in the Sullivan County Catskills, is set to reopen its hotel this summer. The resort, located in Callicoon, N.Y., was destroyed by an accidental fire in April 2006. The Villa Roma, which boasts almost 400 rooms and suites, is close to completing a $27.3 million construction of a new main hotel facility and enhancement of guest amenities.

Villa Roma is owned and operated by Founder and President Martin Passante and Vice President Paul Carlucci. "While almost all the Catskill resorts are gone, Villa Roma prospered over the years because we have always been committed to continued investment in our resort," said Passante. "This new design and amenities will offer our guests an enhanced experience, with the family hospitality and outstanding service they have come to expect from the Villa Roma."

In addition to many renovated 1- and 2-bedroom luxury suites, the reconstructed hotel will feature new amenities including a 600-seat ballroom, lounge and dance club, 150-seat cafe, 30-person Jacuzzi spa and a new outdoor water playground.

Villa Roma also offers its guests a total of five pools, indoor tennis and fitness center, 1,000-seat night club and show room, 18-hole championship golf course, club house and catering facility, arcade, bumper boat pool, go-cart track, horseback riding, spa, gift shop, bowling facility, supervised children's programs, wireless Internet and corporate meeting rooms.

"The silver lining from the fire is that we were able to build a new Villa Roma and it's better than ever," commented Carlucci, who has been a partner in the property since 1984. "After two years of planning and construction of our new and improved luxury resort, we can finally open the doors this summer and offer our guests an enhanced guest experience while still being that great getaway close to home."
