The Chrysler Foundation Presents $250,000 Check to the Detroit Zoological Society to Support and Maintain the Detroit Zoo's Tauber Family Railroad

Chrysler LLC has a long history with the Detroit Zoo and its locomotive trains. Walter P. Chrysler began his career working in the railroad business where his passion for engines developed. In 1949, Chrysler Corporation designed, built and donated the first of the diesel-powered trains, named the Walter P. Chrysler, along with two more locomotives in 1950 and 1951.
