Studio Photographer and Canine Portraiture Expert Joseph Sargent Calls for Heartwarming Stories About Dogs
Tentatively titled You've Got to Get a Dog, the book will feature the best of the stories Sargent receives, along with a professional portrait of each dog. Stories should illustrate how having a dog companion has enriched the person's life; Sargent will choose which tales — and tails — to be included for publication.
For those wondering what exactly a dog portrait is, Sargent offers two pages of striking examples at http://www.DistinctiveDogPortraits.com. Drawing on his decades of experience in studio photography, Sargent's Phoenix Studios has become known for its upscale portrait work with dogs. Dogs may not be as easy to pose as the children and families with whom he has developed a reputation for capturing classic and meaningful moments, but Sargent manages to bring out each dog's character in his work.
"Dogs have an amazing and profound ability to sense and respond to our needs and emotions," Sargent explained. "At each Distinctive Dog portrait session, we hope to capture the dog's full emotional range, from joyful grins to thoughtful contemplation, from curiosity to grace. Our Distinctive Dog subjects never fail to give us a fabulous image."
Sargent's clients agree, praising the photographer's ability to bring their dogs' distinctive physical and emotional characteristics to life on film.
"Joseph's work takes pet (dog) photography to a new level," stated client
The dogs themselves inspired Sargent to write You've Got to Get a Dog. He hopes the touching stories of dogs' companionship, combined with his powerful portraits of the dogs themselves, will serve to celebrate dogs' unique connection with people — and inspire more people to open their hearts and their homes to canine companions.
"Dogs give us some of the most fulfilling relationships in our lives," Sargent stated. "You've Got to Get a Dog will showcase those relationships and their positive effects for both dog and family. I can't wait to hear people's stories of how their dogs have enriched their lives."
