Wounded Warriors Treated to Night on the Town in San Diego by TriWest and Freedom Alliance
SAN DIEGO, May 7 PRNewswire — Wounded Warriors from the Naval Medical Center San Diego and Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton will enjoy an evening of food, fellowship and fun at an exclusive downtown steakhouse this evening, courtesy of TriWest Healthcare Alliance and Freedom Alliance.
Sponsorship of this event is part of TriWest's overall $40,000 contribution to the Freedom Alliance. Thanks to the gift, hundreds of Wounded Warriors and their families will be entertained at "Military Appreciation Dinners" throughout TriWest's 21-state West Region.
"These Service members have sustained life-altering injuries while fighting to preserve our freedoms," said TriWest President and CEO David J. McIntyre, Jr. "We hope that these dinners will provide them an opportunity to relax and have some fun with their fellow Service members and their families while they are recuperating."
Approximately 50 Service members will attend tonight's "Military Appreciation Dinner," as well as TriWest's Karen Jones, market vice president Southwest market and vice president of field operations, and Lynda Salmond, service area director for Southern California. Thomas Kilgannon, president of Freedom Alliance, and other representatives from the organization will also be mingling with the Marines and Navy.
"I feel this dinner wasn't just a free meal but a memory that will keep me going in the direction of fighting, not just for myself, but much more," said Julius J. Shoulderblade, who attended a similar dinner in Fort Carson, Colo. "Thank you to TriWest and Freedom Alliance."
Wounded Warriors at Hawaii's Tripler Army Medical Center, Fort Riley in Kansas, Fort Lewis in Washington, and Alaska's Fort Wainwright and Fort Richardson will have the chance to attend "Military Appreciation Dinners" in the upcoming weeks. Recently, Service members from Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, Fort Carson in Colorado and Fort Huachuca in Arizona participated in the dinners.
"We are grateful to TriWest for their support," Kilgannon said. "We appreciate all that the organization does for our country."
