The European Union Emissions Trading System in Perspective

WASHINGTON, May 7 PRNewswire-USNewswire — The Pew Center on Global Climate Change will host a press briefing on its new report, "The European Union's Emissions Trading System in Perspective" this Thursday at the National Press Club. The report, by A. Denny Ellerman and Paul L. Joskow of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, examines the development, structure, and performance of the system to date.

The briefing will provide a realistic assessment of the system's initial objectives and outcomes. The speakers will address common misperceptions of the trading system's performance, and explore the lessons of the EU-ETS that Congress can draw on as it contemplates an American cap-and-trade system.
