Pennsylvania State Police Vehicles to Display Blue Ribbons
Department Honors Law Enforcement Officers Killed in Line of Duty
The ribbons will be tied to the left rear door handle of the State Police vehicles as part of the department's observance of National Police Week,
"This is a time to pay tribute to all police officers, federal agents and prison guards killed while on duty - and to show our respect for their families," Miller said. "It's important that we remember those left behind because their families must deal with grief on a daily basis."
Miller said 91 Pennsylvania State Police officers have died in the line of duty during the department's 103-year history.
The Blue Ribbon Campaign is sponsored by Concerns of Police Survivors Inc., a national organization representing more than 15,000 surviving families of officers killed in the line of duty. Information about the group is available at www.nationalcops.org.
