Independent Truck Driver Takes Her Online Education On the Road
KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 7 PRNewswire — The flexibility of online classes combined with tuition discounts offered by Grantham University, (http://www.grantham.edu), is helping working adults like Linda Caffee, part of a husband and wife driver team for FedEx Custom Critical, pursue her education goals while enhancing her trucking business as an independent owner-operator.
"Because of our erratic schedule and not knowing where I will be from one day to the next, Grantham's online programs are a great fit for me because I can log on any time I'm not driving," said Linda Caffee, Grantham student and independent owner-operator. "Because my husband is a member of OOIDA, I was able to participate in the discounted tuition rates offered by Grantham."
Grantham University, specializing in educating working adults, recently partnered with Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) to offer members and employees the opportunity to take courses online. OOIDA members can enroll in an undergraduate or graduate degree program of their choice, or take individual courses to brush up on skills like accounting, math and business management.
Members and employees of OOIDA are given special tuition rates along with a textbook and technology grant, which covers the cost of required textbooks and software.
Grantham University's goal is to provide working adults like Linda Caffee with the opportunity to further their education, while they continue to manage and grow their businesses.

So far, Caffee has enrolled in a business management class and plans to obtain her Bachelor's degree in Business Management in the future.
"In our business, I have to deal with laws in trucking and in business," adds Caffee. "My education will enhance our already successful independent owner-operator business."
