FRC Action Endorses Robert Schaffer for Senate

WASHINGTON, May 6 PRNewswire-USNewswire — Today, FRC Action endorsed Robert Schaffer for the U.S. Senate seat representing Colorado.

"I have worked with him on several pieces of pro-family legislation and have consistently been impressed by his integrity, intelligence and assiduous approach to advancing and protecting the family, especially when it comes to protecting the unborn," said Connie Mackey, Senior Vice-President for FRC Action.

Bob Schaffer served in Congress for three terms, from 1997 to 2002, during which he received a 100% rating from the National Right to Life. In 2002, he was the recipient of our first True Blue Award.

While in Congress, Bob Schaffer also co-sponsored the Child Custody Protection Act, making it a criminal offense to transport a minor across state lines to perform an abortion intended to evade parental notice law. He also co-sponsored the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, which included evidence that challenged the scientific holdings in the Stenberg v. Carhart case from 2000. Finally, during his three terms, he averaged a 76% with the National Taxpayer's Union which during his time in office qualified as an A rating.

"It was an honor to work with him in the past, and it is an honor to endorse him for the office he will hopefully hold in the future," Mackey concluded.

FRC Action, a 501(c)(4) membership organization, is the legislative advocacy arm of the Family Research Council, a 501(c)(3) organization.
