Alerts.com Takes Honors at Annual Keiretsu Forum Angel Capital Expo

BOSTON, May 1 PRNewswire — Alerts.com (http://www.alerts.com), a free online alerts service that helps people manage schedules and control how they consume information, today announced it was named runner-up in the annual Angel Capital Expo, sponsored by the Keiretsu Forum, the world's largest angel investment community.

Thirteen of the nation's hottest start-up companies, pre-screened by a select committee of Keiretsu Forum members, made eight-minute presentations and answered five minutes of questions throughout the day. Committee members praised Alerts.com as the youngest early-stage company ever to be named runner-up in the annual competition, making the honor particularly significant, according to Alerts.com CEO and co-founder Pascal Stolz.

"As both a member and presenting entrepreneur, we are excited to be recognized as the runner-up in this year's Angel Capital Expo," Stolz said "The company is just four months old, and I am very proud of the efforts that our team has put forth, especially knowing what it takes to be able to present and receive validation at a Keiretsu Forum event such as Capital Expo."

Hosted by Keiretsu Forum, the world's largest angel investment community, the Angel Capital Expo is a premier gathering of the angel investment community. This year's event, held in late April in San Francisco, attracted more than 400 angel investors and provided them with a unique opportunity to meet and engage with a baker's dozen of outstanding start-up companies. The Forum has more than 16 chapters and 750 accredited investor members on three continents.

Alerts.com provides consumers with a user-friendly 'one-stop' experience with access to a wide variety of reminders and alerts to be sent at the time and via the medium selected by the user.

"The online alerts industry is in its infancy yet sky-rocketing, and Alerts.com is at the forefront in finding the best way to organize and simplify the consumption of all available information for consumers," Stolz said. "The Web is evolving from users retrieving content like going to a Web site or a search toolbar to users receiving the specific content they need by pre-configuring what they want and only receiving what they need."

Alerts.com is jointly owned by Internet Real Estate Group, (InternetRealEstate.com) and Monster Venture Partners (Monsterventurepartners.com) which both focus on acquiring and developing businesses around category-defining generic domain names such as Alerts.com, Phone.com, Chocolate.com and many more. "Leveraging a category generic domain as a brand provides exponential advantages in search engine marketing, repeat visits to a website, and credibility with consumers and business partners," notes Andrew Miller, Internet Real Estate Group co-founder and president. Adds Mike Zapolin, co-founder and chief executive officer of Internet Real Estate Group, "Generic domain names provide users with an intuitive understanding of what a business does and allow for easy recall when marketed."
