Nicholas Carr to Join T-Systems at SAPPHIRE 2008 Conference in Orlando

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., May 1 PRNewswire — T-Systems has invited renowned author and IT expert Nicholas Carr to appear in its exhibit at SAPPHIRE, SAP's annual user conference being held in Orlando, Florida May 4-7, 2008. Mr. Carr's 2004 book Does IT Matter? ignited a global quarrel about the strategic importance of IT in business.

Mr. Carr's SAPPHIRE 2008 appearance is part of T-Systems' exclusive sponsorship of Mr. Carr's nationwide tour to promote his new book, The Big Switch: Rewiring the World, From Edison to Google, which describes how today's computer industry is being reshaped by its own technological advances and the explosion of Internet-based computing.

In The Big Switch, Mr. Carr makes an eloquent and compelling case for the growing transition of computing to a full utility model where most information processing and storage is done remotely, on the Internet, with the associated far-reaching effects on corporations, media and society in general. One needs only to look to a social-networking site such as Facebook to see his vision in reality.

"I'm pleased to be appear with T-Systems at SAPPHIRE 2008," said Mr. Carr. "T-Systems has been a pioneer in helping businesses harness the power of the Internet's global computing grid."

Mr. Carr will appear in T-Systems' exhibit, booth #1772, on Monday, May 5th to meet interested SAPPHIRE attendees and autograph their copies of his books. Mr. Carr also will speak to select T-Systems customers and prospective customers during a limited access, invitation-only luncheon the same day. Interested SAPPHIRE attendees should contact T-Systems for more information.
