Bernard Pictet, Glasswork Artist, Presents Five Projects Carried out in Conjunction With Other Artists

PARIS, April 28 PRNewswire — For the boardroom of the Macif in Paris, he has created a remarkable piece of glass work: a dual layer work expanding on a painting by Richard Texier. The original painting, inspired by Magellan and the connections between the continents, meets its glass echo.

Together with Jean-Charles Blais, for the Pole Universitaire Leonard de Vinci, Bernard Pictet has created three triptychs of a total size of 320 square meters and, for the facade of the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees (National School of Bridges and Roads), two heads of a height of 6 m, slightly obscured, for which the readability shifts with the light.

Aki Kuroda has called on him to create glasswork facings that recall his designs for the Mauboussin jewelry store on the Champs Elysees.

The glass panels adapt the artist's work using different techniques: chiseling using a burin for the star on the store window, bubbles for the chocolate bar's thick glass, and painted glass for the boutique's decorative panels.

Together with interior designer Brigitte Saby, he is creating sophisticated glass facings for the Art Deco-inspired Parisian apartment of an art collector.

For the entryway, he has created wall facings in pale gold leaf, with free-flowing ornamentation chiseled using a burin.

In the bedroom, two glass panels frame the bed and highlight the beauty of the two Diego Giacometti lamps.

For the headquarters of a large company, together with Philippe Schiepan, http://www.VIDE.eu, in the entry hall Bernard Pictect has created a screen of 40 square meters comprised of 23 pieces of semi-reflective kinetic glass. Behind those pieces are television screens, whose contours are invisible, that allow the images to evolve freely within the glass.

After more than 30 years, Bernard Pictet advises and accompanies designers in carrying out all kind of projects uniting glass with art, interior decoration and architecture.

His unique approach to the material, his creativity, his attraction to arts and his organization allow him to collaborate with renowned architects and artists.

He creates elements as diverse as engraved glass, refined since the 1930s, structural glass, dividing walls, facades, and contemporary facings.
