Wheelchair Tennis Tournament Draws Athletes Throughout California

SAN DIEGO, April 18 PRNewswire — The San Diego Business Clubs America will hold its second annual charity event, a Wheelchair Tennis Tournament and Luau, at Barnes Tennis Center in Point Loma on June 20th and 21st. More than 100 disabled/wheelchair-bound professional, semi-professional and recreational athletes from throughout California are expected to participate. This year, representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records have been invited to sanction the event as the largest wheelchair tennis tournament in the world.

Last year $70,000 was raised to benefit Sharp Rehabilitation Services. Proceeds from this year's event also will go to Sharp, a leader in improving the way people live following catastrophic injury or illness and assisting them in reaching their greatest potential. Sharp's primary focus is the support and rehabilitative care of people who have suffered spinal cord injuries, brain injuries or strokes. Proceeds from the Wheelchair Tennis Tournament will go toward sports recreation and wellness programs, as well as equipment to enhance mobility and exercise ability.

The San Diego Business Club America is a national membership-driven business development organization that serves the middle market business community and includes many prestigious local businesses. Sponsors of the charity event include Solar Turbines, Nielsen Construction, Cymer and Motorola.
