World Tai Chi & Qigong Day, our TENTH ANNIVERSARY, is almost here !! Saturday, April 26th, 2008 - 10 am worldwide.

1. Thank you once again for making this spectacular and meaningful event unfold around our precious planet. Together we will once again celebrate "One World . . . One Breath." We have events now in Nepal, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the global wave keeps growing!!

This week the State Senate of the great state of New York issued an official recognition of our coming 2008 global World Tai Chi & Qigong Day events and health education work (see below). Also, the National Ministry of Sports, and we hope soon the National Ministry of Health will support World Tai Chi & Qigong Day events in ECUADOR. Exciting news, a study has shown that Tai Chi may help fight Type 2 Diabetes !! More on this below.

Tai Chi Can Help Control Type 2 Diabetes

1. LONDON: Tai Chi Chuan, the traditional Chinese martial arts exercises, could help curb symptoms of type 2 diabetes, according to a new study.

The study suggested that Tai Chi might prompt a fall in blood glucose levels, or improve blood glucose metabolism, triggering a drop in the inflammatory response, reports the British Medical Journal.

The findings of the study indicate that regular Tai Chi Chuan exercise improves T cell helper function of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with an increase in T-bet transcription factor and IL-12 production.

T cells are a vital constituent of the body's immune system, which generate powerful chemicals, including interleukins (ILs), which alter the immune response.
