JENKINTOWN, Pa., April 15 PRNewswire-USNewswire — National Philanthropic Trust today announced the appointment of Eileen R. Heisman, President & CEO, to the Advisory Board of the George H. Heyman, Jr. Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising at New York University. Ms. Heisman joins an elite list of professionals who have been gathered together to assist the Center in its development.

Ms. Heisman is a nationally-recognized expert on philanthropy and planned giving, and frequently is engaged as a keynote speaker and panelist at major philanthropic and estate planning conferences. As an adjunct faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice, as well as the University of Michigan School of Social Work graduate program, Ms. Heisman values education and recognizes its importance in philanthropy. In addition, Ms. Heisman was among the first fundraising professionals nationally to earn the distinguished ACFRE certification, and currently serves on the Boards of several charitable organizations. "I am honored to be able to contribute to the Heyman Center's work in training and educating professionals who are interested in philanthropy and fundraising careers," said Ms. Heisman.

Established seven years ago, the Heyman Center offers both bachelor's and master's degrees, and enrolls about 1,000 students per year. It offers 30 courses every semester on every aspect of fundraising and grantmaking including ethical issues, planned giving, state and federal laws, and technology. The Center believes that fundraising today is a sophisticated profession requiring a detailed understanding of best practices, and the more education a person has, the more effective of a fundraiser he will be.
