Give In, Give a Little, or Get Tough With Online Distractions: GigaFin Networks' Solutions Save Critical Real-Time Resources From Bandwidth Drain as March Madness Hits

CUPERTINO, Calif., March 24 PRNewswire — GigaFin Networks today introduced new Management Console software for its network analysis and remediation appliances, enabling remote management of distributed devices from a single location. As March Madness hits the nation's online networks and more NCAA Tournament coverage is available than ever before, this presents an easier solution for IT managers to ensure critical resources are available and monitor, limit or block the use of network resources for unproductive or unauthorized purposes.

"Because of easier and increased online streaming of NCAA programming, we're expecting record spikes in bandwidth usage," said Mervyn Alamgir, Director of Marketing at GigaFin Networks. "Presenting major sports as multi-platform online events is the wave of the future but it creates its own issues. Compounding the problem is the fact that even though there is increasing availability of bandwidth, it becomes instantly consumed by streaming media, peer-to-peer traffic and online gaming. As a result, organizations lose productivity from outages to critical applications such as Voice over IP, online conferencing and e-commerce applications. In order to prevent these outages and ensure the integrity of their missions, organizations need to take control of network usage as quickly, simply and affordably as possible."

Designed to add a new level of ease and efficiency to the monitoring and management of internal networks, the GigaFin Management Console will enable IT administrators and their managed services providers to view, correct and control LAN traffic flow from any point inside or outside of the network. Users of the Console can view all GigaFin devices under management; examine, change or create policy settings; quickly implement network flow improvements or controls; and add or remove devices on the network.

The GigaFin SlimLine 100 and FlowLine 500 series are compact, in-line appliances that manage network traffic flows to optimize and protect network and server infrastructures. Based on GigaFin's RDX technology, the appliances support monitoring application traffic at up to 2Gbps throughput while being transparently deployed throughout the network. The combination of the GigaFin SlimLine and FlowLine appliances with the Management Console gives administrators the ability to optimize network resource utilization and correct speed or security issues from a central point, without interrupting core applications.

Users can access the Management Console for tasks such as increasing available bandwidth for priority applications, controlling the bandwidth of a host or subnet, setting maximum bandwidth for non-critical applications, stopping or limiting low-priority applications or adding a new device to the network. GigaFin will showcase the Management Console at the MSP Alliance Managed Services Summit in Atlanta, Georgia from March 31 to April 1.
