The Progressive Farmer Receives Jesse H. Neal Award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., March 20 PRNewswire — The Progressive Farmer and DTN, the leading business information services company focused on agricultural, energy and weather business markets, announced today that is has received a Neal Award, presented by American Business Media.

The Progressive Farmer was selected for the Best How-To Article or Subject-Related Series of How-To Articles. The winning three-article series, "Building Your Place," A Primer for Building on Your Property, was centered on helping families make the most of their rural farmstead. The series guided readers through the real-life transformation of a rural property into a complete country homestead. Led by senior editor, Dan Miller and design and production director, Donovan Harris, The Progressive Farmer provided step-by-step instructions of how to develop a piece of property into a dream farmstead. The first-hand look appealed to a wide range of people looking to buy property for pre-retirement as well as farm families that simply want to improve their farmstead.

The guide covered three main topics: Developing the country property, building a dream on a budget and adding outbuildings, landscaping and roads to the property. Like all Progressive Farmer articles, the editorial series reflected a love of the outdoors and affirmed the country lifestyle. Highlights of the project were an emphasis on timber and wildlife management, family recreation and casual living.
