1102 GRAND Announces Expansion of Colocation Facilities

KANSAS CITY, Mo., March 6 PRNewswire — As a result of increasing customer demand, 1102 GRAND, Kansas City's carrier hotel and network neutral interconnection point, today announced the opening of a new colocation room and the current construction of private cage colocation space. The 2000 square feet raised floor colocation room is already about 15% leased since opening in January, and pre-orders are now being accepted for the 4000 square feet private cage colocation area that is scheduled to be completed in June.

"We have listened to service providers and enterprise customers who are significantly driving the demand for colocation services in our facility," stated Todd Applegate, Business Development Manager at 1102 GRAND. "By being connected to our carrier neutral Meet Me Room, customers in these new colocation areas will benefit from being a cross-connect away from a wide array of carrier networks in addition to an ever-growing portfolio of services providers offering everything from SIP trunking to data protection including offsite archiving. Since we serve such a diverse group of customers from as far away as Europe, it is exciting to see what can happen when companies utilize our Meet Me Room to do business together."

The recent investments are part of an overall strategic growth strategy and are the latest in a series by 1102 GRAND who has invested nearly $7 million since purchasing the building four years ago. Previous improvements included the connection to two Kansas City Power & Light power grids, completely replacing the entire primary electrical infrastructure, adding two megawatts of generator support, installing redundant cooling towers, and developing a carrier neutral Meet Me Room for tenants to physically connect with each other. "We did more than remodel the building. We have worked together with our tenants to reinvent the facility, and these current expansions are a testament to our ongoing commitment in developing the area's largest neutral hub for the internet and attracting global customers to Kansas City."
