Cheryl F. McCants Joins National Urban League as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications

NEW YORK, Feb. 19 PRNewswire — Cheryl F. McCants has been appointed to Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the National Urban League. She will be responsible for creating and implementing the League's marketing, communications and interactive strategy as well as solidifying its brand identity nationwide.

"Cheryl is a recognized leader in the industry and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Urban League movement," said Marc Morial, President and CEO of the National Urban League. "We are proud to welcome someone with her talent and strategic excellence in communications, marketing and branding."

An award-winning marketing and communications professional with more than 20 years of experience, McCants joins the League after serving as Vice President of Marketing and Brand Management for Girl Scouts of the USA. There, she was responsible for developing and executing national marketing and communications strategies to support local councils and headquarters staff with an emphasis on the Hispanic, African American and Asian American markets.

Prior to that, McCants was Founder and President of Impact Consulting Enterprises, where she worked with the Ms. Foundation for Women to develop a comprehensive communications plan for Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work(R), a national educational initiative. She also served as a key architect in the re-launch of the Converse footwear brand and in the development of a strategic communications plan for Ashley Stewart to open more than 200 stores over a five-year period. Her other experience includes Global Corporate Responsibility Manager and Director of Communications for the Jordan Brand for Nike, Inc., as well as several marketing, public relations, operations and communications roles within AT&T.

McCants received a Master's of Science degree from The Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, and also holds a Master's of Arts degree in Project Management from George Washington University. She also holds two bachelor's degrees in Business Economics and Organizational Behavior and Management from Brown University.
