San Bernardino Educational Institutions Retain the Staubach Company

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., Feb. 12 PRNewswire — The Staubach Company, a leading global real estate advisory firm has been retained by the Mayor's Education Roundtable of San Bernardino to complete an Education Park Feasibility Study, Proposal and Schedule for the City of San Bernardino.

The Education Park Feasibility Study will include the San Bernardino City Unified School District, the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, San Bernardino Valley College and California State University, San Bernardino. The Study will determine the feasibility of creating an Educational Park between 6th Street on the South, 9th Street on the North, D Street on the East and G Street on the West in downtown San Bernardino.

This unprecedented collaboration by all the educational institutions serving San Bernardino residents is an integral step in realizing the recommendations put forth in the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Panel Report released late last year.

"There is an immediate need to facilitate the organized expansion of our education partners downtown," said Mayor Patrick J. Morris. "This study will provide us with the data and support we need to make the Education Park a reality."

"We commend the City and the academic institutions for their commitment and teamwork to this project," said Tom Turley executive vice president for The Staubach Company. "The collective vision required by this initiative is unique and may prove to be the type of collaborative model that other municipalities and educational entities also can implement. The Staubach Company is proud to be involved."

The Staubach Company will evaluate existing conditions and facilities in the Education Park area and study all the partner's future needs and requirements. The evaluation will include site studies, cost analysis, financial obligations and valuation of existing assets.

The process will begin with a series of stakeholder meetings to determine the vision for the Education Park and to obtain perspective from not only the partners, but the surrounding community and landowners. The study will identify synergies, opportunities and risks related to the partners and their expansion needs.

Once the study is complete, The Staubach Company team will refine a development vision, recommend innovative building and financing ideas, identify opportunities, issues and risks and evaluate funding sources. In addition, The Staubach Company team will create alternative scenarios for development of the Education Park as well as recommend implementation phases to guide the project forward.
