An Event Added to Celebrate and Empower North Carolina Women
DURHAM, N.C.,
The Ramblin' Rose Sprint Triathlons, which are designed to celebrate the empowerment of women, bring together women of all ages and athletic ability, in a collective movement to inspire, support and propel each other to do even more than they thought possible. All past Ramblin' Rose events have sold out months in advance. Race officials anticipate the new event, like the others, will fill to capacity with 500 participants.
Endurance Magazine, producer of the Ramblin' Rose races, is proud to announce The Southeast Gateway YWCA, located at 1300 South Main Street in Winston-Salem, as the first of three stops for the 2008 tour. The newly- constructed 90,000 square-foot wellness complex is a bridge to the community and anchors the city's Southeast Gateway.
"I couldn't think of a better organization and venue to add to our race series," stated
The YWCA affirms that women's human rights are universal, indivisible, interdependent and interrelated. It is a movement that reaches women and girls, providing them with the space and skills to develop leadership to achieve justice, peace, security, health, human dignity, freedom and care for the environment for the entire community.
Another benefactor to the event is Girls on the Run (GOTR) Forsyth County. GOTR is a nationally-acclaimed character development program for girls ages 8- 12 that uses running to prepare young women for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.
