Johnson Controls-Saft Selected for New Lithium-Ion Battery Contract for Hybrid Vehicles

NERSAC, France, January 31 PRNewswire-FirstCall — Johnson Controls-Saft announces that the joint venture has been selected to supply lithium-ion batteries to a European car manufacturer for a hybrid vehicle.

This contract is the second lithium-ion production contract won by the joint venture, and the cells will be produced in the joint venture's new facility in Nersac, France, to be officially inaugurated tomorrow, 31st January. The initial investment in the plant was EUR15M, but the facility has been designed to be scaleable and this additional contract will required limited further investment.
