AIAM Members Lead the List of Top Producing North American Vehicle Assembly Plants

ARLINGTON, Va., Jan. 31 PRNewswire-USNewswire — Members of the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers (AIAM) now operate three of the top four highest-volume assembly plants in North America, AIAM said today. As a whole, six AIAM member company plants ranked in the top-ten list referenced in a recent Automotive News ranking of North American plants with the highest level of production in 2007.

American Honda Motor Company, Nissan North America and Toyota Motor Sales each had two plants qualifying for the top-ten list.

"AIAM member companies continue to demonstrate their commitment to the North American auto industry not only by designing and engineering products that meet the changing needs of customers, but by building vehicles here in ever higher numbers," declared Michael J. Stanton, president and chief executive officer of AIAM. "Collectively, AIAM member companies have invested more than $35 billion in 54 vehicle assembly plants, component manufacturing facilities and R&D centers in the U.S. alone, employing 92,500 Americans with an annual payroll of nearly $6.3 billion."
