Dillon Stores to Expand in Wichita, Kansas with Acquisition of Area Homeland Stores

WICHITA, Kan., Jan. 29 PRNewswireDillon Stores announced today it has reached an agreement with HAC, Inc., a subsidiary of Associated Wholesale Grocers to acquire three Homeland Stores in Wichita, Kansas.

The stores will become part of the Dillon Stores division, based in Hutchinson, Kansas. The division currently operates 101 stores under the Dillons, Gerbes, and Baker's banners in Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

With the acquisition, Dillon Stores will provide Wichita customers with newer, more up-to-date shopping choices with the conveniences of enhanced departments, such as Pharmacy, Nature's Market, and expanded selections to include up to 8,000 additional products and merchandise. The newly acquired locations will allow for the relocation of several smaller Dillons stores to these more modern facilities in the same neighborhoods. Dillon Stores will consider affected Homeland associates for employment.

The Homeland Stores being acquired are: — 1910 W. 21st Street North (21st & Amidon): This store will serve as the new location for the current Dillons store located at 1435 N. Waco (13th & Waco). — 3020 E. Douglas Ave. (Douglas & Hillside): This store will serve as the new location for the current Dillons stores located at 4801 E. Central (Central & Oliver) and 1227 S. Hydraulic (Lincoln & Hydraulic). — 640 N. West Street (Central & West) - This store will serve as the new location for the current Dillons store located at 2525 W. Douglas (Douglas & Meridian).

Our customers will see immediate facility upgrades with new amenities to meet and exceed their expectations as we relocate to these stores," Mr. Bays said. As part of the agreement with HAC, Dillon Stores will also acquire two of its Price Chopper grocery stores in Topeka, Kansas. The two Price Chopper stores are located at 5311 S.W. 22nd Place (22nd & Fairlawn) and 4015 S.W. 10th Street (10th & Gage).

"Our customers in Topeka can continue to enjoy the friendly service, fresh selections, and great values, they have always found at Dillons, while shopping at our new locations," Mr. Bays said.

The transaction is expected to close in February 2008, and is subject to customary closing conditions. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
