TAIPEI INVENT 2008 Wraps Up Super Success

TAIPEI, Taiwan-(Business Wire)-October 6, 2008 - Taipei INVENT (The 2008 Taipei Int’l Invention show and Technomart) wrapped up a supper success today (Sept. 28th) that beckons well for both inventors and future shows. And even though a full force typhoon forced the show to shut down early on its final day, visitor turnout still hit a record high!

During its four days that ran from Sept 25 to Sept 28, more than 80,000 people visited the show, a 60% increase from last year (2007). This show will drive future development in all industrial fields and create many possibilities in the future.

A whole army of government and private organizations were behind building the success of this event. It was supervised by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Education, National Science Council and Council of Agriculture, and jointly hosted by the Intellectual Property Office, Industrial Development Bureau, Department of Industrial Technology, Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, Bureau of Energy, and State-owned Enterprise Commission, and organized by the TAITRA (The Taiwan External Trade Development Council), Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan, and Taiwan Technology Marketplace.

A total of 641 domestic and international manufacturers from 20 countries (including Taiwan) exhibited in the show. The rate of internationalization is unprecedented in Taiwan show history and there were many creative special life inventions. For example, Syrus Nejat from the U.S. demonstrated a satellite communication system that operates on solar power. Marco Antonio Alvarado from Guatemala displayed his gas stove that was developed through laborious modifications.

A Malaysian team that repeatedly returns to the show featured Mr. Qin-You Luo who showcased his patented creative key that can enhance residential household security. Salon Archimedes, the Russian technology association, introduced the laser mouse, the lighting technology of the new generation, a modified fire extinguisher, and many other new products. The Iranian Elite Academy from Iran presented a variety of auto supplies. Inventions from international manufacturers added zest to the show and created a sense of global community.

The diversified exhibits from domestic and international manufacturers also attracted a large number of visitors. Michael Steen from the U.S., who is currently working in a NIKE branch office in Taichung, traveled to Taipei just for the show. He was very impressed by the proactive attitude and emphasis of Taiwan on the research and development of the solar power technology. He believes Taiwanese manufacturers were really keeping track of the latest trends in the contemporary world.

The number of international visitors to this year’s show grew by 40% compared on last year’s turn out. Invention circles in Venezuela and Vietnam formed a 20-person and a 90-person delegation, respectively, to visit the show. The topics for this year’s show all featured product development and hence a lot of Japanese manufacturers and media also came to Taiwan to visit and cover the show. Yuka Ikematsu from Japan stated that the inventions at exhibit in Taipei were both creative and useful and hit home in matching the needs of the general public since they flexibly embraced nature and hi tech. The swimmer tracing device presented by the Kai Nan High School of Commerce and Industry especially attracted attention from Agustin Pena from Mexico. He was very surprised by so many friendly schools taking part in the show and believed that it was a good thing that Taiwan drives people of all ages to value invention and research.

These four days of genius spurred domestic and international enterprises to partake in 20 rounds of technology transfer and collaboration contract signing ceremonies at Technology Innovation Pavilion and Technomart to create high value technology business opportunities in all fields of the industry. Exhibitors at this show often stated they could feel the passion in the waves of visitors, a pleasing experience in exchanging thoughts with international exhibitors. And many international exhibitors also indicated that this event was exactly the event they were seeking in terms of market prospects and quality and stated that they would be back in 2009. That technology transfer experience event linked Taiwan with the U.S., Japan, Korea, and others — a total of five countries, to link this island-nation to the best brains around the world.

“TAIPEI INVENT 2008†enabled domestic and international enterprises to access new inventions and exchange new technologies on multiple facets and provided domestic and international inventors with a technology trading platform where they could form partnerships and alliances with domestic and international enterprises, link up with major industries and businesses and spur global economic growth and market development.

Don’t miss Taipei INVENT 2009 (The 2009 Taipei Int’l Invention show and Technomart) that runs next September 24th to September 27th. Where genius changes the world!
