Our World with BLACK ENTERPRISE Special Edition Issues Urgent Call to Unregistered African American Voters
NEW YORK-(Business Wire)-October 3, 2008 - With Election Day in America only six weeks away, Our World with BLACK ENTERPRISE tackles voter registration turnout among African Americans in a special edition airing nationally all this weekend. Rick Wade, Senior Advisor to Obama for America and Valeisha Butterfield, Executive Director, Hip Hop Summit Action Network sound an urgent alarm to host Ed Gordon in an episode not to be missed.
“In 2004 the Democrats lost the election by 2%. One hundred and ten thousand votes—there were 270,000 unregistered African Americans. That is a good illustration of how important not just voter registration is but stresses how essential turning out the vote is come November,†says Wade “It’s an incredibly important strategy and effort. We have to register and register and make sure that we understand the ID laws. Have your driver’s license and addresses correct by October 6, so that we can go to the polls come November 4.â€
