Scottrade Recognized for Associate Training and Development
ST. LOUIS-(Business Wire)-October 3, 2008 - Scottrade (www.scottrade.com), a leading branch-supported online investment firm, won the American Society for Training & Development’s 2008 BEST Award for the second consecutive year. The award recognizes organizations that demonstrate enterprise-wide success through employee learning and development.
Scottrade ranked ninth out of the 40 award winners this year. Scottrade earned the award for a number of its new learning programs which are designed to help its associates improve their skill sets and provide better customer service. Among these programs are its National Service Center training program and its advanced online trading platform training.
“Winning the ASTD Best Award for the second year in a row is a testament to our firm’s commitment to learning,†said Jane Wulf, Scottrade chief administrative officer. “We will continue to stress ongoing training and professional development at Scottrade so that our customers receive superior service while our associates strengthen their careers.â€
The learning and development practices and programs of 95 organizations from seven countries were evaluated in this year’s BEST program. Members of the BEST Awards advisory committee, a group of experts in the learning and performance field, assessed each organization’s quantitative and qualitative information to determine the top participants.
“The BEST Award winners set the standard for exceptional learning and performance,†said Tony Bingham, ASTD’s president and CEO. “They excel at aligning learning with business needs, demonstrating business impact, and providing a broad range of learning opportunities for employees. And, senior leaders in BEST organizations provide deep support for learning and model leaders as teachers.â€
Scottrade, which has more than 2,300 associates and 373 branch offices nationwide, is a rapidly-growing organization that focuses heavily on associate training and professional development. The ASTD BEST Award is one of several recognitions Scottrade has received in the past year. Other honors include being ranked No. 51 on the 2008 InformationWeek 500, the 16th Best Place to Work in IT by ComputerWorld magazine, and one of FORTUNE’s “100 Best Places to Work For.â€
The ASTD BEST Award was presented during a ceremony held in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 2.
