Jan & Dan Duncan Honored at 2008 Blue Bird Circle Gala, Casino Royale
HOUSTON-(Business Wire)-October 2, 2008 - The Blue Bird Circle will hold its annual gala in honor of Jan & Dan Duncan on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the River Oaks Country Club. The gala begins at 6pm with a cocktail reception and will include dinner, dancing and a chance to bid on fabulous live and silent auction items including Cartier LOVE bracelet, Neiman Marcus diamond Michelle watch, Zadoks diamond watch, five star, four city Argentina vacation, South American hunting trips and much more. Musical entertainment will be performed by Houston’s own, Yvonne Washington & the Mix.
Established in 1923 and celebrating 85 years of continued community service, The Blue Bird Circle volunteers provide more than 100,000 hours of service each year to the Clinic by way of a resale shop and fund raising activities. In the past 10 years, The Blue Bird Circle has contributed over $10 million to The Blue Bird Circle Clinic for Pediatric Neurology at Texas Children's Hospital, The Blue Bird Circle Developmental Neurogenetics Laboratory and The Blue Bird Circle Rett Center at Baylor College of Medicine. Internationally-renowned researchers, Dr. Jeffrey Noebels, director of The Blue Bird Circle Developmental Neurogenetics Laboratory and Dr. Huda Zoghbi, newly appointed director of the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute have discovered numerous genes related to neurological disorders.
