Capture New York City's "Urban Jungle" in Metro's Global Photo Challenge

NEW YORK-(Business Wire)-October 2, 2008 - Metro New York readers are invited to enter digital photographs of New York City in the “Urban Jungle†Global Photo Challenge starting October 6 at www.metrophotochallenge.com. The Metro Global Photo Challenge is the world’s largest competition for digital photography, selecting the winner from both amateur and professional photographers from four continents and twenty countries in which Metro is published. The global winner, determined by voters worldwide and a panel of judges, will win a trip to Paris and the opportunity to post the photographs from their trip in Metro editions throughout the world.

“Digital photography has transformed how and when we share our experiences by making pictures more accessible to more people, in more places, more often. So it’s a natural fit for Metro, with editions in 100 cities, to honor this art form by showcasing photographs globally,†said Georg Tsaros, Publisher of Metro New York.

From October 6 and October 24, Metro New York will highlight “Urban Jungle†photo entries in its Voices section, which runs editorials and reader-created content. Finalists will be selected by a panel of local jurors and readers’ votes among Metro US markets—New York, Philadelphia and Boston— and will represent the United States in the Metro Global Photo Challenge. These winners will then be judged by internationally acclaimed photographers and an online jury of over 40,000 Metro readers. The winner will be announced on December 3rd with a full page feature in Metro US editions.
