McCormick & Schmick's Bar Menu Provides Value in Tough Times
PORTLAND, Ore.-(Business Wire)-October 2, 2008 - With consumers’ budgets strained from high gas prices and a weakened economy, many feel that they must make sacrifices because the costs are too high. McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants is welcoming cash-concerned consumers with open arms – and a $1.95 bar food menu. Since prices start below $2, guests won’t feel like they need to break the bank while grabbing a quality bite to eat.
The value-based bar menu was created more than 20 years ago by McCormick & Schmick’s CEO and Co-founder Doug Schmick to provide guests with high-quality food at low prices while they enjoyed the bar experience, and it remains popular and pertinent today, especially as consumers feel the economic pinch.
While the menus are different at each of McCormick & Schmick’s 83 restaurants, all feature the award- winning $1.95 Cheeseburger, and many include items such as Chicken Quesadillas, Buffalo Wings, and Spinach Dip. Providing guests with fresh offerings is important to the restaurant group, so hummus platters, steamed mussels and fish tacos are popular choices as well. There are also seasonal and regional specialties such as Gazpacho with Local Oregon Bay Shrimp in Portland; Tempura Fried Pickles in Charlotte; Bangers and Mash in Boston; Black Bean Dip in Houston and Garlic Fries in Chicago.

While partaking in McCormick & Schmick’s bar experience, guests can also enjoy McCormick & Schmick’s long tradition for hand-crafted fresh cocktails, including the restaurant’s signature “History of the American Cocktail†bar menu, which features nearly 50 of the world’s finest libations – many true to form and others with a slightly updated twist. Some cocktail highlights include the Pisco Sour, Harry’s Bar Bellini, Raspberry Crusta and the Moscow Mule. Seasonal cocktails are also highlighted at different times of year.
The bar food menu is available at McCormick & Schmick’s restaurants during designated “Happy Hours,†which vary by restaurant but tend to run from late afternoon until 6:30 pm and again later in the evening, from around 9:00 pm until close. The majority of items are priced at $1.95 with other items priced at $3.95 and $4.95.
