Cleaner Marketing Plus New Green Printing

WAYLAND, Mass.-(Business Wire)-October 2, 2008 - EcoVisual Communications.com announces its public launch today. The new firm, headed by 20-year marketing and communications veteran Rick Colson, is the first to offer an exclusive combination of green large format printing for trade show graphics, interior décor images and museum-quality display art, plus personalized consultation to corporate marketers on improving the environmental impact of their marketing efforts.

“For too long excessive direct mail campaigns printed on virgin papers and the production of volatile organic compounds in printing processes have created excessive waste and negative impacts on health. On average, 40% of landfill content is paper,†says Rick Colson. He continues, “Now, the best marketers are beginning to embrace green technologies and even those who lag behind are becoming more environmentally aware.â€

EcoVisual Communications offers large-format printing on completely sustainable, totally chlorine free (TCF) papers manufactured and sourced locally, reducing the carbon emissions associated with transportation. The use of VOC-free aqueous inks eliminates worker and customer health hazards. Most of EcoVisual Communications’ printing is on 100% cotton “tree-free†papers produced from t-shirt and blue jean remnants, using non-hazardous, water-based, carbon-pigment inks.

Why is the use of TCF papers so important? Because elemental chlorine used in making paper “brighter†can combine with wood pulp to form dioxins, among the most carcinogenic substances known to man.

The firm has established partnerships with offset printers for the production of stationery, collateral and annual-report printing using FSC certified, 100% post-consumer recycled, TCF papers and vegetable based inks. The results are indistinguishable from petroleum-based inks on virgin papers and priced comparably.

Rick Colson, former President of Ideate Inc., has nearly twenty years of experience consulting to companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500s. He now brings his marketing expertise to the emerging field of green marketing, helping corporate clients to produce more environmentally responsible marketing programs.
