Nextrials Positions Strategic Sales Force Across the U.S. for Improved Customer Access and Service

SAN RAMON, Calif.-(Business Wire)-October 2, 2008 - Nextrials, Inc., (www.nextrials.com) a leader in clinical research software and services, today announced the addition of regional directors of business development to its sales force. Scott Steward, based in Texas, and Virginia (Giga) Smith, based in North Carolina, join Denise Bowen in New Jersey and Alan Arroyo in California, giving the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries experienced, local points of contact for Nextrials’ clinical trial management software and electronic data capture solution, Prism®.

Operating out of San Antonio, Steward joins Nextrials from ePharmaSolutions, where he served as a director of business development. In this position, he was one of the company’s top two revenue producers and doubled his accounts each year from 2005-2008. He has 14 years of sales experience, and is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University.

Beginning her career as a registered nurse and study coordinator, North Carolina-based Smith has worked for many years as a project manager, drug safety coordinator and business development director within the pharmaceutical industry. Formerly a senior coordinator for access to patients at Quintiles, her professional background includes stints with Pharmaceutical Research Plus (a division of Healthstar Communications), PRA International, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, The Essential Group and Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ. She is a graduate of Graceland University and the University of Pennsylvania.

Located in New Jersey, Bowen brings 12 years of pharmaceutical operational and sales experience to her role in business development at Nextrials. Bowen was previously a senior project manager at Covance, where she was responsible for cross-unit coordination of services and for the successful conclusion of multiple studies across many therapeutic areas. Bowen’s early clinical trials experience also includes working as a clinical research associate at PharmaNet. In addition to her operational experience, Bowen worked in business development as an executive director for The Essential Group. She earned a degree in biology at The College of New Jersey.

Formerly the associate director of clinical operations at Novacea, with responsibility for the company’s DN-101 global drug development program, California-based Arroyo has almost 10 years of clinical research and business development expertise. His pharmaceutical experience includes positions with Cerus Corporation, Chiron Corporation and Covance. He is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley.
