St. Kitts and Nevis Selects Partnership of Securewest / SARS Corp for Long Range Identification and Tracking Solution
NORFOLK, Va.-(Business Wire)-October 2, 2008 - St. Kitts and Nevis International Ship Registry have announced that they have signed a contract for the provision of a ‘National Data Centre’ for Long-Range Tracking and Identification (“LRITâ€), with Securewest International, a leader in Maritime Security and emergency response together with its Marine business partner, SARS Corp. (OTCBB:SARO) (“SARSâ€), a leading provider of technologies dedicated to the satellite-based management of fixed and mobile assets. The contract will cover 325 LRIT required vessels registered with St. Kitts and Nevis.
Mr. Nigel Smith, International Registrar of Shipping & Seamen for St. Kitts and Nevis, stated - “We had an extensive tender process for the provision of our National Data Centre, including visiting each of the service providers who tendered and chose Securewest and SARS as we considered they gave the best ‘value-for-money’ solution for ourselves and our owners but more importantly showed themselves in tune with our requirements as a small developing island nation operating an expanding ship registry. We are confident that with this support from Securewest / SARS our owners will have the security and confidence of compliance with the LRIT regulations by December 31st. We look forward to working with them.â€
Clare Williamson-Cary, Senior Vice President of Securewest International, said, “St. Kitts have shown themselves to be leaders in adoption of the full LRIT solution. This solution not only provides polling and historic route information but also includes integrated SSAS monitoring and AIS for those registries concerned with real time vessel tracking. This can be a significant tool for cost control and efficient fleet management.†Williamson-Cary further noted, “Through our 24 hr manned assistance centre we can interface with vessels for compliancy and LRIT, any time, anywhere, thereby removing drawn out implementation schedules. Securewest International and SARS truly deliver a one stop shop, turn key solution for vessel tracking and monitoring.â€
Chris Wain, Chief Executive Officer of SARS said, “SARS is excited to work in partnership with Securewest in providing St Kitts with it’s LRIT solution. Working with Securewest and St Kitts is providing SARS with the opportunity to consider the registry’s internal LRIT management needs in addition to the basic IMO requirements. The industry generally understands that adoption of LRIT has increased the management demands and costs incurred by the registries but active symbiotic partnerships such as this one are facilitating the development of comprehensive fleet management systems focused on mitigating the increased burden.â€
