Electric Insurance Names Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer
BEVERLY, Mass.-(Business Wire)-October 1, 2008 - Electric Insurance Company, a national provider of auto, homeowners, condominium and renters insurance, announced that it has promoted Gerard P. McCarthy to Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer. In this position, McCarthy will be responsible for leading the underwriting, product management and actuarial organizations for Electric Insurance’s personal lines and commercial lines operations. As Chief Underwriting Officer, McCarthy has also been appointed to the Company’s Board of Directors.
In his previous role as Vice President of Personal Lines underwriting, McCarthy had primary responsibility for personal lines profitability, which included leadership of the company's personal lines underwriting, product management and actuarial functions.
McCarthy joined Electric Insurance in 1994 as vice president of personal lines finance. He holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
