Human Options Hosting Event Featuring 2008 U.S. Olympic Volleyball Coach
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.-(Business Wire)-October 1, 2008 - Human Options, a non-profit organization providing alternatives for abused women and their children, is hosting a special event to launch its Annual 100 Men Campaign, featuring special guest speaker Hugh McCutcheon, head coach of the U.S. Men’s 2008 Olympic gold medalists volleyball team. The event, to be held on October 2, 2008 at the Newport Beach Sports Museum, is sponsored by The Men’s Task Force of Human Options, a group who is active in the community in speaking out against domestic violence, and ethical values and practices.
McCutcheon will talk about his team’s improbable run to the gold medal at the Beijing Games as well as share his personal experiences, ethical values and practices as it relates to coaching young men. The gold medal was the first for the U.S. Men’s Volleyball Team since 1988. The team trains in Anaheim and is made up of many Southern California players. McCutcheon helped lead the team while dealing with the loss of his father-in-law, who was killed in Beijing at the start of the Summer Games.
The Men’s Task Force will be promoting Human Options newest community education program, Jason’s Story. This program is focused on teaching young male athletes how to have healthy, safe relationships, how to control their negative emotions and how to avoid the pitfalls of domestic violence.
