MRV Expert to Join Panel Discussion at Optical Expo

CHATSWORTH, Calif.-(Business Wire)-October 1, 2008 - MRV COMMUNICATIONS, INC. (Nasdaq:MRVC), a leading provider of products and services for out-of-band networking, optical transport, metro Ethernet, and fiber optic components today announced that Brandon Pemberton, MRV’s Director of Market Development, will present as part of the “Optical Networking for Tier 2 and Tier 3 Operators” panel at the Light Reading Optical Expo 2008 on Monday, Oct. 6.

Brandon Pemberton is a telecommunications expert with experience in WDM, SONET, fiber optics, transport and Ethernet. As director of market development, Pemberton is responsible for shaping MRV’s product portfolio and ensuring that the company leads the market in innovation of optical transport and carrier Ethernet solutions.

While the major carriers get most of the attention, smaller Tier 2 and Tier 3 operators are facing many of the same network migration issues as their larger counterparts. These issues include traffic migration from circuit to packet, deploying FTTx architectures, IPTV and VOD and expanding Ethernet services. This panel will look at how next-generation optical networks can serve these operators, highlighting where their needs differ from those of the big operators.
