New Cross Platform Version of Award Winning Forensics Triage Tool

NEWARK, Calif.-(Business Wire)-October 1, 2008 - Following their 2007 award winning digital forensics tool, MacForensicsLab Inc. is proud to announce their new cross-platform version of MacLockPick. Unlike previous versions, MacLockPick is now available to E-Discovery professionals and IT managers in addition to the law enforcement community. MacLockPick II represents a new generation of forensic triage aimed at providing a single tool that transcends the concerns of particular operating systems. Whether the suspect (or the investigator) uses Microsoft Windows or Mac OS X, you can perform your field triage in the same way using the same tool.

The need for timely identification, interpretation, and meaningful analysis of electronic media has never been more critical. In this technologically advanced and ever-changing environment, investigators are constantly faced with the challenges of capturing volatile data, preserving potential evidence, and maintaining the integrity of the electronic crime scene while ensuring the data remains viable and accessible for further investigative efforts. Dealing with cyber criminals requires modern investigative processes to include on-scene forensic triage, and the success of these operations is measured in minutes, not days.

The new version of MacLockPick is designed to capture information that is valuable to an IT manager, an E-Discovery professional, or a digital forensics law enforcement officer. Numerous enhancements were incorporated to strengthen the law enforcement community’s abilities to examine and capture data from Microsoft Windows systems, Apple Mac OS X systems, and Apple iPhones.

Information such as details about the computer, activities of the user of that system, and the online history of that user can be extracted within minutes.

Investigators can use this tool for forensics triage on almost all systems. MacLockPick II can be used to audit your suspect's online behavior, system passwords, and information such as Apple iPhone SMS messages, phone calls, contact lists, etc.

MacLockPick II is expandable to provide maximum flexibility and power to support forensics investigations thanks to a plug-in based architecture. MacLockPick II allows forensics investigators to add third party plug-ins to further enhance the abilities of MacLockPick.
